Just short of the sweet spot on the bat, this ball was stroked into

right-center field. Wish I had her eyes, but my vantage point for

this game was pretty high. Thoughts, criticisms and comments

appreciated.

Great shot! perfect timing getting the ball on the bat, and I like the fact that there are no distractions in the background. I agree with you that having her eyes in the shot would have made it exceptional, but I understand with the position you were in. Good job!

I'm a BaseBall Coach. A great pic. As a coach you can pass on the the batter that her hands positions are wrong. A batter must be able to turn the top hand over.

As a ball player???? you almost had it, but as a fan, a nice pic.

For her to make this good contact, you KNOW where her eyes are. Great timing, great shot, Kirt.

Marty,

First-off, thanks for the comments. The player's dad gives private hitting lessons. Maybe I should give you his email? :-)

Sometimes it's tough to make a judgement about a swing from a single still of it. Her lower hand will (did) end up rolling over, it'll just happen sometime after the point of contact.

Also, for those who might wonder, "softballs," or at least the ones used at this level of competitive play, are certainly not soft. The flattening of the ball means she was swinging hard.

Kirt, great timing of this shot. I get close but can never get the ball right on the bat like this one... Kudos!

Marty/Kirt, my daughter plays competitively and the hand positioning on this player is exactly as it should be when the bat makes contact with the ball. The rollover happens after contact. Her private hitting coaches are former professional baseball players (Giants, A's), and they have photos all over the facility of the pros with their hands in this same position when making contact... Thought I'd pass that on!
