lax368 0 Posted May 7, 2006 Nice shot! I like the contrast between the WWII P-51D Mustang, the F-16, and the F-15. Perfect poster image. Link to comment
tim_adams 0 Posted May 7, 2006 Shutter speed is way too high. 1/250 is max, or the prop stops. #1 rule in avaition photography is, do not under any circumstances stop the prop. Link to comment
lax368 0 Posted May 8, 2006 Very good point about the prop. This is something that I did not initially notice and being a pilot, a stopped prop is a very scary thing. ;) Link to comment
k5083 1 Posted May 8, 2006 Don't get hung up on prop blur. Usually you have to sacrifice sharpness in the picture to get it, and it's easy to add with photoshop if you really must have it. The truth is that prop blur doesn't make all that much difference in an image; airplane photographers have just made a fetish out of it. I like this the best of the two Heritage Flight pics that you have posted, because of the unusual over-the-shoulder angle, the overlap between the F-16 and F-15 which creates a sense of depth and surprises you with the size of the F-15. If the F-16 and F-15 didn't overlap, the viewer would tend to assume that the F-15 is closer because it is so much larger, so there is almost an Escher quality. Anyway, an unusually good pic for a Heritage Flight shot which is a very overdone subject nowadays. Link to comment
