johncrosley 1 Posted September 9, 2006 This photo is interesting from a compositional standpoint. Just look at the distribution of 'subjects' and '(m)ass to sky, and the addition of a strong diagonal for dynamics. This truly is an original photo, and on that basis alone is a standout, but what may be deceptive is that it's based on traditional concepts of strong composition. (strong diagonal/counterpoint figure in donkey's head/division of the frame into parts -- here four). I'm impressed (and appropriately amused). John (Crosley) Link to comment
jdudley 0 Posted September 9, 2006 I have to ask, though: did you add in the Donkey in post production? Looks that way to me, based on the lighting angles (though it's hardly conclusive). Regardless, it's an interesting image. If it's all in-camera work with a single shot...it's remarkable. If it's a "photo illustration", which is a rather funny little phrase being used in popular media for created images, then it loses a bit for me. It's still a product of your obviously keen imagination, but it loses the magic of capturing the basic shot in camera. Capturing that moment, rather than creating it by combining images. I'll be checking out the rest of your portfolio, no matter what the answer. Thanks, and keep it up. regards--j Link to comment
tmjacobs 0 Posted September 9, 2006 Funny as it is, I agree with Jim: judging from the light -which seems to come from below- this is a montage, which, for me, makes it just a little bit less unique. Link to comment
