smhickel 0 Posted January 27, 2002 Scan it once where it is cut off at the knees on the columns. Very effective. Scan in slightly smaller so no scrolling is necessary. Steve Link to comment
jamesb 0 Posted January 30, 2002 Love the whiteout at the top suggesting 'heavenly light' or some such. Link to comment
eric_wilkinson 0 Posted March 30, 2002 Picture perfect if you can crop out the mullah. I love the saturation. Link to comment
luca_nagel 0 Posted July 23, 2002 i really like it! it shows how small we are.... i just think, if i was there, i would ask somebody to sit there on the ground where the man is going... Link to comment
pete church 0 Posted January 31, 2005 That's a great shot. I think the inclusion of the person completes it. Link to comment
paul_berz 0 Posted February 11, 2005 Yes, taking the man into the picture realy makes the columns even larger. The colour of his clothes contrast very well with the colour of the columns. Well done! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 17, 2005 Absolutely gorgeous. Lovely colors and beautiful composition. Light coming from above has created a very warm mood in the picture.. Kind regards. Link to comment
nicholasprice 0 Posted February 17, 2005 It was midday, and The Hypostyle Hall at Karnak was full of tour groups. I had to wait for 45 mins for a shot with no tourists (although every pillar in the shot must have a tourist behind it!), and then what luck, this attendant in traditional dress walked into the shot to give scale and context! - How lucky was I? Any comments, ratings and critiques would be welcome - Thanks! Link to comment
ned1 0 Posted February 18, 2005 Don't crop out the guy. He give it scale. I don't normally recommend this but you might play around with some perspective correction in PS. But not too much, just enough to straighten out the pillars at the edge. Very nice. I much prefer this to your B&W version. Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted February 18, 2005 You were, indeed, lucky and your long wait has rewarded you with an excellent capture. The light, colours, details, everything evinces the charm of ancient Temple of Karnak.Best regards. Link to comment
gabri 4 Posted February 18, 2005 Outstanding picture Nicholas. Love it. The man on the right gives a GREAT use of a prop to give perspective on the size of the temple. Best. gabriele Link to comment
brayden_cruikshank 0 Posted February 21, 2005 I love this photograph. It shows great detail, especially the carvings in the pillers. I think it's a beautiful picture. It shows the beauty of the setting and the lighting is spectacular. It's most defintly inspiring. Your comment on my photograph is defintly encouraging and greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Brayden Link to comment
shamik 0 Posted March 1, 2005 great lighting. and good that you got the details on the pillars. the man though he distracts a bit gives a nice perspective to the picture. i have thought abt it and still could not think of any other place when he could have been place and the frame looked any better. thus, i guess u did as best as u could under the circumstances Link to comment
nicholasprice 0 Posted March 4, 2005 Thanks for everyone's kind comments. This is one of my favorite photographs. This is partly because it's also one of the first photographs that I took, after becomming "serious" about the art! I also think that it was the first image that I posted on this website. I posted the same image in B&W, but I have to work on it a little. I've corrected the converging verticals in photoshop as suggested by Edward Horn. I think that the image has been improved. What do you think? Kind regards, Nick. Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 65 Posted March 20, 2005 Awesome shot, Nick! I don't understand how you got those colors. Link to comment

lucyhollis 2 Posted February 18, 2006 Wonderful detail, composition (I prefer this to the corrected perspective version, in this one it feels like the pillars are stretching to reach the Source of light) and the story to go with it. I'm glad you were so patient in wait for the crowds to hide themselves, in order that you could share it with us. Link to comment
