"Supernatural Energy"

Easter 2005. Selected the darker area and made it brighter by levels. Made an eye of snow in the little "stone head" to the left. Better viewed LARGER. Copyright: Baldur Birgis

From the glacier Snaefellsjokull. Many people think it is one of the

seven most powerful places in the world. Thanks in advance for your

time.

Thank you very much Mari. I forgot to mention that Snaefellsjokull is the glacier in the Jules Verne story ("Center of The Earth").

Colin, Julio and Lou Ann, many thanks for your visit and comments. Through the years there has been some kind of mystic connected to Snaefellsjokull. Some years ago, an international group of people came together one day in Snaefellsnes to welcome people from other planets (UFO) ! Well they did not show up.

With that story in mind, I made an eye of snow (clone stamp) in the little "stone head" to the left. Best regards, Baldur

A beautiful scene difficult to photograph as far as exposure is concerned because of its high dynamic range. You managed well to lighten the foreground using levels, to preserve detail. As others have already mentioned, I like the leading lines of the road and the clouds in the sky, all pointing to the central object of interest, the glacier. I am not sure though about the right upper corner, where the sky is black, I would prefer to have it brighter. Probably the high contrastiness of Velvia 50 contributed. Best wishes, Peter

Peter, many thanks for your visit and time. This shot was made 24.3. 2005 (Holy Thursday). I was there again about same time this year but the sky was not very interesting. After viewing some unused scanned images, I decided to work with this one. I think you are right about the contrasiness of Velvia 50. Best wishes, Baldur

Veyr good colour contrast between the sky & the land. Focus point is The road, leading us uphill to the snow. Nice one , Baldur.

A beautiful sky. I've often looked westwardsfrom Reykjavik and longed to visit Snaefellsness, I will finally do so this summer on my 12th visit to Iceland. The mystic power you've captured in this photo makes me feel it's going to be a good trip! Although I do like the composition as it is, I wonder how it might look with only moss-covered lava in the foreground and no track? Best wishes, Hugo

one of the seven? Is Sedona, Arizona, one of the others?

At any rate, a beautiful photograph.
