alexguerra 0 Posted April 24, 2006 Amazing long exposure! It almost looks like a sand storm. But it is sea water right?... Congrats and regards, Alex Link to comment

inshorestudios 0 Posted April 25, 2006 I like the plane formed by the tops through the veil of the mist. Nice effect. Link to comment
beechcomber 0 Posted April 25, 2006 seems to me ive been along that area having lived in sydney (bondi beach) for 3 months, that area has a lot of sandstone? cliffs that drop into the ocean. very cool effect. silky smooth....like steps coming up through the silky water cheers evan Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted April 25, 2006 Thanks for all the feedback, folks. This is a six minute exposure taken just before sunrise. Focussing is quite a challenge under these conditions. It really says a lot about the Acute Matte D screen. There was a lot of wave action washing over the rocks but not at such a depth that it obscured the rocks underneath. This is the result that I was after. Lots of misty water but still detail in the rock shelf. Link to comment
davidroossien 0 Posted April 25, 2006 Wonderful. It could be looking down through clouds from 30,000 feet. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 25, 2006 Jeff, amazing result, interesting your focal point...the diagonal form, clarity of rocks ,smoothness of seascape, and the light is low but is magic, it is better and better with you.... Link to comment
ian cameron 0 Posted April 25, 2006 Jeff absolutely glorious, soft and beautiful. Ironically the harshest step in colour contrast is the horizon line from sea to sky. I wonder if you could have even chosen to eliminate the horizon completely for an even more subtle picture. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted April 25, 2006 Thanks Ian, I did think about the sky for quite a while and finally decided on this. Even now, I still can't make up my mind which works best. Link to comment

Poravich 0 Posted April 25, 2006 What can I say? Ah...man!!, what a MAGNIFICENT landscape!! It is one of the best I've ever seen. Jeff, I'd give you 8 but have to limit to 7, ok? Where is such a place? Pat Link to comment
peter_weimann1 21 Posted April 25, 2006 to give you a high rating for this amazing photograph. How strong was your ND filter, or better how long was the exposure time to get this result? Link to comment
sapere.aude67 0 Posted April 26, 2006 it is the most beautiful picture i have seen in last few years, i think i'll quit photography after this, don't feel bad, some people have it , some don't. i hope you don't mind i'll be using it from now on as my favoured wallpaper. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted April 26, 2006 Thanks again for all the feedback. This was a 6 minute exposure with a Lee .9 hard ND grad Link to comment
cappoldt 0 Posted April 26, 2006 Wow - this is GORGEOUS. Love the abstract nature of it, and the composition is fantastic. Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted April 26, 2006 I do not remember many of your shots looking like a sandstorm rather than water, and I like the way the main elements of a beach (water and sand) sort of exchange place in this well-crafted image. For a while I toyed as well with the idea of removing the horizon, to bring this a step further into the ream of abstraction. Eventually, I think it has to stay since I like the way the palette up there matches the one of the foreground. Link to comment
galimage 0 Posted April 26, 2006 I love the different tones, the movement ... beautiful to look at ! Wonderful shot ! Isa Link to comment
sef1664877429 0 Posted April 26, 2006 Yeah, like Sal, I had the same feeling about the horizon... a bit distracting, but works with the bottom to frame the cooler middle. For some reason, reminds me more of snow than sand, an Antartic blizzard. Link to comment
