Thanks everyone! I've been away on a computer course where the mists refused to clear and darkness descended - so quite normal there!

Hans, mmm... maybe the 17-40 f/4??

Hans, you may be right about the brush. No Reliant Robin to be seen though.

Ilse, I can control the clouds! - well the darkness of them in photos at least. I used a 2 - stop ND grad filter to darken the sky so maybe a 1-stop would have been better.

Alberto, I am sure you are right about the Templars - I took the date from when the church was given to a local lord to look after having been taken away from the Templars.

Carsten, yes, the stitching usually needs a preliminary perspective distortion to get them to look fairly natural.

Jayme, whoa, disorienting! I remember it the proper way round so it is tricky to see it that way without my brain complaining. If you see the men in white coats coming to your house you know the little voices have finally got the better of you....:-)

yes :-) thinking that way myself too, but I still think the 5d is expensive (in spit of the optimistic comments about that), so I am not sure if i wont go for the d200 instead.

I put myself on a waiting list for a 5d today. Now all I have to do is save up my pennies.....the Nikon looks an attractive proposition. Have you read Bob Atkins review comparing the options - (see PN home page)

I prefer this one, Colin. It's the presence of the grave, those flowers, maybe, or how the darkening clouds contrast with the vivid green.

This one just pops off the screen - very nice, Colin! I like the bright foreground contrasting with the somewhat darker background.

How nice to get the background story to the architecture! Nice picture too. Composition and colour good as always. There is also the freshness of first spring that makes me happy, in spite of the serious surroundings.

I just got my 5D yesterday (still do some photography, even if I'm less around PN). Lower price, cashback and some luck finally made me able to get it. It's a dream to be back with "full-frame". I also considered moving to Nikon, but gave up the thought as it would be a far too expensive venture for me. Now that I have my 5D I am so happy with it Nikon is already forgotten. At least the bodies are. I understand a Nikon to Canon EOS converter works quite well with manual Nikon lenses. I might try that in the future.

I hope you get your new camera soon!

regards

Camilla

Paula, Kim, thanks, I admit to a bit of enhancing of the dark background and light foreground so I'm leased you like it.

Camilla, nice to hear from you again and I'm glad you are happy with the 5d - especially as I hope to be following the same path soon. I agree about full frame. Will you be posting some of your 5d images on PN? Please do as I would love to see them.

More of your wizardry with combination exposures. I love the tonal range in this one and also the great wide angle presentation and colors. Nicely done!

I like this shot a lot. The composition with the shot of the flowers in the foreground add to the 3D feeling of the final shot, while the clouds in the background complement it perfectly (what a successful PS work!). A pity you cropped the flowerpot (it looks too "boxed" in the composition, IMHO). Colors are great and the overall impact is certainly outstanding (much stronger than in the bw version). Regards, Sigfrid.

Excellent shot, your shots makes me want to buy a wide angle...:)

Far prefer the colour to the BW version.

well done.

The gray skies makes for lively color. Great perspective Colin...moody and serene.

Hi Colin!

Sorry to have not visited your page from a certain time.

This is a great composition, full of British atmosphere and of your inimitable style.

I really love this shot. It is full of contrasts, the dark angry sky and the happy little daffodils, the red roof and the green grass... It's a really beautiful shot, and nicely composed.

Regards,

Amanda
