j_yabrow1 0 Posted January 26, 2002 I took this photo standing on my tippytoes attempting to center the far-off grove between the foreground vines. Now i find myself wanting more sky and I wonder if the horizon is too centered. What do you think? Link to comment
ville_inkala 0 Posted January 26, 2002 Nice contrast between green and blue. It's slightly dark for my liking, though. To answer your question (sort of), I think this might have worked better in vertical framing. Link to comment
lucas_griego 0 Posted January 26, 2002 The composition is very static. The horizon cuts just about through the middle and then clump of trees or bushes are also centered on that horizon.. and then there are two amounts of vine growing almost perfectly up on either side of that.. so it becomes very static very fast for the eye. Like someone else posted.. vertical framing would have worked perhaps better.. with about 2/3rds sky and 1/3rds land it wouldn't be nearly as symmetrical. The shot seems quite dark and may be the scanning. A bit more contrast in the sky would help out as well since the slight amount of clouds has a pleasing pattern. Hope this 2 cents helps. ciao, Luc Link to comment
j_yabrow1 0 Posted January 27, 2002 Thanks very much for all your feedback. I agree with the comments mentioning vertical framing. I actually have a vertical shot of this scene in the same folder: http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=538666 Unfortunately it is even darker than this photo. My SS4000 scanner seems to scan much darker than the slide looks on a light table. I'll have to see what i can do w/levels & brightness... Link to comment
