Jim_Dockery_Photos 2 Posted April 20, 2006 Sunrise on the Sisters range in central Oregon. I took a series of panoramic shots over a half hour period as the light and clouds changed. This is my favorite version.
joachim.wabnig 0 Posted April 20, 2006 I had to look at it in large. I am not sure if the extreme panorama works for me, but I really like the black and white rendition making it almost abstract with all the different layers of clouds, mountains and shadows. Probably just the central portion would have more visual impact (unless it in printed 3m wide...)
Jim_Dockery_Photos 2 Posted April 20, 2006 Thanks for the input Joachim, that is exactly why I post pictures here. I'm afraid I find it hard to be objective about many of my photos because they mean much more to me than just a (hopefully) pretty picture. I love this little section of the Cascade range, and have many great memories of climbing and skiing down all of these peaks, so I really wanted to get one shot that showed them all. Since they are in a long north south line this is the view from my friend's house where I often stay when I'm down there.
joachim.wabnig 0 Posted April 21, 2006 that with such a view from your friends house you cannot be objective.
tmjacobs 0 Posted June 19, 2007 I like panorama's but I find this very extreme, furthermore I think the mountain range is too low in the frame. I take it this is desaturated? I think I would prefer the color version. I can imagine though this works very well on a 1 meter wide print.
