Jacqueline, don't worry about tilted horizons - they are but geometry, and your photos go beyond that. (IMHO)

One could say that undoubtfully the good luck was on your side, to give you a flying crane exactly on that moment when the sun disk is visible for only a few moments, until it sinks. But this opinion I don't quite share. Because this would be not enough to shoot this beatiful photo. The artistic perception has to be present, otherwise one wouldn't see this special moment.

The chosen composition defines depth in two directions. The one is towards the dving sun, the other being towards the crane's destination as it is flying so magnificantly in silence. The two lines lie parallel to the plane of the water with the beautiful ripples in a transition from darker blue to bright golden yellow. The bird seems to be directly over the boundary of day and night, as it defines the interection of the two directions. And it seems to be flying diagonal between the two directions, suggesting similarity to that journey we call life. The journey which we all seem to make, as we take our ways between good and bad, between fast and slow, between black and white - each of us mixing his/her own distinct recipe of all flavors and ingredients that forms the own character.

A great one!

Your words, Nick, take every photograph to a whole new level. Thank you very much for your interpretation(and the time you spent to share it!). I appreciate learning what people's reactions/emotions/thoughts are while viewing.
