Well Alec, I am not very good in using layers, only the most simplest one. This is done without any layers.

Great portrait! The backlighting is really nice and you manage keep the detail in the shadows intact. Good expression and your series of zoo photos are great. Cheers!

Thanks for paying a visit. This is no repayment!!! Just felt the need to express a few thoughts...

A lot of people like to comment on the technic involved to make the shot: the crop, the light, the DOF, the This and the That... Well... That, I think, you can not and should not ignore at any time (learning also means "open mind" to tech critiques). But what about the story? The feelings being transmitted? The Idea behind the shot, The suggestions? - How deep did it touched you? What do you mean? Did the photo talked to you? In what sense?...

Thanks For Sharing this AMAZING PHOTO, Cherlyn. And Paulo Barreto, thanks for sharing "your" story (although a very sad one).

Congrats!

Anxious to come back and enjoy more of your beautiful photos.

Cherlyn, I think you have the lighting and composition perfect here. Your positioning of the animal's head as though he is deep in thought adds greatly to this image. And, there is no indication that this animal is in a zoo. Well done!

Well, Paul, not only is it in the zoo. It is behind glass as well. I took it from behind a glass.

A perfect 10 in all regards. This is one of the best images I have ever seen in my life. If it's not in National Geographic, it should be. You could teach a lot of us about photography. Exceptional work.

I think the composition is very good as it is, the dark areas keep the eye on the subjects face and head. Focus and dof is very good, with excellent light and exposure, I love the fine detail. Your photography just keeps getting better and better. Congrats cherlyn.

This is a really nice photo; I like how the baboon looks so focused on what it is doing. The light is also falling well. What a good shot!!
