The wider lens (yes?) works well here. I think it adds to the already interesting shape of the tree by exagerating it.

I saw your portfolio after you commented on a photo of mine. Your work is excellent but this shot in particular is just fantastic. I love the colours, composition and the tree is just great the way it reaches in every direction, devoid of any leaves.

I must agree with everyone else. You have a terrific image, you captured the essence of the tree. Wonderful picture.
