dchatter 0 Posted April 14, 2006 Lured by the dream of discovering something fantastic, quite often graduate researchers cover difficult ground, endure tons of hardships, only to find that their chosen path leads to nowhere in particular. Link to comment
LorenzaF 0 Posted April 15, 2006 Debasish, when I opened the picture and saw it I thought ... hmmm, good b/W, good selective focus but ok, it's just a pine branch whith a drop ... then I read your comment, realised what you meant and saw the photo in an entirely different way. For a short period (four years) I have worked in the University and did a little research work (my subject was tax law), so I can understand what you mean here ... the drop could have chosen each one of the four little branches departing from the same point, went down one of them ... and now it's hanging at the very tip of it, with nothing below. This photo evokes very well the appalling feeling when I realised that a certain subject I had been working on for a good amount of time was of very little scientific interest, but had in any case involved months of hard research work. I felt exactly like the drop at the end of the branch. And the picture has an additional subtle negative implication, as NO little branch would have lead anywhere ... not even the blurred ones in the background. Link to comment
dchatter 0 Posted April 15, 2006 Nicely interpreted... yes, I'd been thinking of finding a suitable way to depict eventually good destinations, but I guess I need prop-roots for that :=)) Best regards. Link to comment
