I love/hate these B&W photos of urban reality. I love the beauty that can be found in the ugliest subjects, and I hate being reminded of the reality of life in 2006. Very good work in this shot.

Andre: Thank you for your critique. It means much more to me than a high mark, or a one-liner. Looking through my portfolio I find I have taken a lot of photos of the more affluent parts of Shanghai, but there is so much more to this place than the glitz and glam...

Your concept is good; has an Egglestonian idea about it. Technically, IMO there needs to be improvement.

1) The forground is flat. Needs more contrast.

2) the sun flare does not work at all.

3) The composition could be better.the truck is a good motif but in this case the scale and placement of it makes the image weak rather then helping the composition. Did you just shoot one angle of this locale or try different ones. It's always good to try different angles to see wahich one works.

bobby: thank you from your critique. regarding the contrast, can you give me an example of how you would alter the contrast of the forground to make a stronger image? I do have more shots from this location in my shanghai folder, you are welcomed to take a look.
