Sunset at La Romana, Dominican Republic

craig_kunitsky

Used a ND 6 filter, sunset filter, and f16, so that I could take a longer exposure and get softness in the water.

Sorry, but I really don't like sunset filters. You can always see it very clearly when one is used. In my opinion its much better to wait for a real sunset. I think the scene is quite nice though. If I would have used a filter, it would have been a polarizer here to enhance colours in both sky and water.

Actually a polarizer does not work well at sunset-best at midday. I agree that I could have used less of the filter. I have another version that I will post later. Thanks for the feedback.

At a recent seminar with several pro travel snappers in London one of my 'mentors' heavily slated the use of sunset or grad tobacco filters and I think he was right. No matter how nice a colour it adds, it always looks obvious and out of place and never really acheives much, compared to all your other images this is quite ordinary. Love your presentations, sensational otherwise.
