Hi...this is one of the images that I captured during a recent shoot

of my friends son Patrick...I love the way that the sepia toning makes

his skin glow. Kids are hard to shoot...they never sit still. I am new

to shooting kids, I felt that this photo worked though. Any

constructive criticism is appreciated...Andrew

Hello Andrew. Yes, his skin does have a wonderfully healthy glow to it. I do like the tones you have achieved here.

Two comments, if I may:

1. I feel that this composition lacks the link between the viewer and the subject. Usually, the link is established through eye contact between the two parties. However, it does not always have to be so. That said, I feel the lack of eye contact here really does negatively impact on the success of the image.

2. To me, the inclusion of the patterned 'pillow' is distracting - my eye keeps getting drawn to it.
