ken_imduaikiat2 0 Posted January 21, 2002 The donuts indicated this pic was taken with a special lense... good snap Link to comment
spiros_papadimitriou 0 Posted January 21, 2002 If only it weren't for the shape of the blurry part (catadioptric lens?), which is a bit distracting... But, then again, you probably couldn't get this otherwise, so...The composition is nice, overall (...a rather recent and terribly failed attempt to capture birds in flight makes me realize how difficult it can be), but to nit-pick a little... :) maybe if we could see a little more of the bird on the right edge, or maybe a horizontal format to give a more "expansive" feeling... BTW, is this cropped (was there more to the right on the neg... maybe with blown highlights??) Link to comment
thomas_payer 0 Posted January 21, 2002 This must have been taken with a mirror lens...they leave the unmistakable "donut" shapes that are very distracting in this photo. I think it has potential with the right lens. Link to comment
marinus_truxedon 0 Posted January 21, 2002 Hey, personally I like the donut effect... Link to comment
leopold bratislav 0 Posted January 29, 2002 Maybe the photo was taken in the vicinity of a Tim Hortons (Krispy Kreme) or a police department? If the photographer (artist?) would tell us if it was with a special lens, that'd help those who want to do similar as much as those who don't. Cheers all, Paul N. Link to comment
Jerry_ 4 Posted January 29, 2002 Like it reads under Technical details: Lens: 1000mm f11 Reflex-Nikkor, on a tripod. This lens (more or less) requires a tripod. My wife was kind enough to pitch some stale bread chunks to attract the gulls. I managed to find a spot where the sun was bouncing off the Gulf of Mexico. This shot was in focus enough to post on photo net. Thank you all for the kind ratings! Link to comment
christian_wagner 0 Posted March 2, 2004 Great action in this photo. But I don't like donuts. I'd use a glass lens rather than a mirror. --- Oops, I made my comment without knowing this was a 1000mm lens. Obviously, at that focal length, a normal lens is not much of an option (you can always sell your car and by the lens). Congratulations to getting a sharp image of moving birds at 1,000mm and an 11.0 aperture. Link to comment
