jmoody 0 Posted April 7, 2006 After listening ("occasionally") to Pink Floyd in my younger years, I KNEW that a keyboard like this one had to exist! :-) Love the shot! As you know, a big big fan of abstract reflections, but then add in the 'mundane' and 'recognizable'. Excellent idea and execution. Bravo Link to comment
root 0 Posted April 7, 2006 I would gladly have switched the views with the other one I uploaded at the same time. This was shot in the showroom of a piano store and rebuilding shop owned by a friend of mine. Got in everybody's way for an hour and shot a roll. This is the only one I kept. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 8, 2006 And it IS worth keeping, as it is very unusual reflection, and interesting composition. What do you think of another possibility? Link to comment
root 0 Posted April 8, 2006 Well, I appreciate your efforts. It doesn't work for me because I'm looking at the importance of balancing the left side rectangle with the heavy veritcal line in the middle and the bottom right triangle. I also want to avoid thin, weak elements at the edges, which I see in the upper left side of your crop. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted April 8, 2006 Carl, I think your reasons have logic and experience, ....Thanks for explaining. Link to comment
giuseppe_miriello1 0 Posted April 11, 2006 Carl, of the last 3 you made i really loved this one! you know i love reflections and distortions, and this one is really intriguing... here are some points: 1. the image is divided into thirds, but only the 2 left thirds are acting as mirrors, the right third gives perspective! 2. i like the fact that there are 2 repeted elements on 3 possibilities... piano players use in fact 2 hands! also the mirroring images are similar but not the same... (like melody and harmony) 3. i like the b/w on this subject more than color... it helps me concentrate on the geometry.. differently from your other image (http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=4297635), i like this most! while the other one is a perfect illustration of a beatiful piano, this one makes me feel more the sense of music. root 0 Posted April 11, 2006 The tonality is almost exactly as seen. . . . . . very little color in the original at all. All three surfaces are reflections. There's a 2"x2"x4' stiffener on the underside of the front section of the lid (called a "log"). You're looking at the lid on its side, and the reflecting surfaces you're looking at, from left to right, are lid, side of log, top of log. Link to comment
