pf 0 Posted January 18, 2002 The sky is really extraordinary but i think the bottom is a bit too dark... Link to comment
steve_champagne 0 Posted January 18, 2002 I agree with the previous comment. But still a nice picture. Very strong colors ! Link to comment
arthur sevestre 0 Posted January 18, 2002 Warwick Castle at sundown. Just being there when the light is right... This is actually a very old part of the castle (The biggest part is still intact). Link to comment
sm. alec 0 Posted January 18, 2002 Great timing (or more likely, waiting). Unless you had a graduated neutral density filter handy, I too would have exposed for the sky. I think part of what does highlight the amount of black on the bottom is the lit door/window. What can you do... Nice shot. Link to comment
philmorris 0 Posted January 18, 2002 This has got to be one of the most colourful skies I have ever seen in Warwickshire. How fortunate that you were at Warwick Castle at the time. BTW, this part, the oldest as you say, is known as Ethelfleda's Mound. Whilst the photograph does not depict the castle from an architectural point of view (you were painting a mood), it does serve to re-create the spectre of its fiery past. Link to comment
daniel_young 0 Posted January 18, 2002 I visited Warwick Castle only a few weeks ago. I agree with the above posts that the sky is simply amazing however the bottom bit is far too dark. Especially since this part of castle of probably the nicest. Link to comment
marc1 0 Posted January 18, 2002 wonderful sky scene, i even like the lit castle walls which gives some details to the dark shade Link to comment
think27 0 Posted January 18, 2002 Supreme! Just about one of the best skies I've seen... The castle makes it a double winner! Link to comment
calvin_hass 0 Posted January 18, 2002 Beautiful! You have certainly captured the scene at the perfect time. Such skies are probably very rare, and to be in the right place when it arrived must be very nice. I like the central composition, as it does allow one to see the continuity of the red/orange glow on both sides of the dark hill. My only critique would be that I would like to have the castle slightly more exposed, resolved somewhat from the dark hill. And, the light in the doorway I find to be a little distracting (if only it were one of the little windows in the top instead!). Overall, the dark mood is wonderful, exactly the sort of thing to catch my eye! Keep it up. Link to comment
vadim1 0 Posted January 20, 2002 WOW WOW WOW WOW. I love the sky, what amazingly deep colors you recorded! The composition is excellent. This is poster material, wonderful stuff. Sadly, it's grainy, recorded with NPH, 400ISO stuff... why??? WHY did you use this! Ok, enough with the exageration, but it would have been a great if it were recorded at say 100 ISO, on provia. I love your work, thanks for sharing. Link to comment

dennis jones 0 Posted January 24, 2002 Well balanced both left/right and top/bottom. Ya did good. I've seen a lot of killer sunsets, this is right there with them. Good work. Link to comment
mmurphy 0 Posted February 26, 2002 Excellent shot. Inre: the above comments refering to the dark foreground... My guess is that a choice was made: detail in the fore (shoot the shot earlier) or magnificent colors (lower sun = darker fore and less detail). I would have chosen the latter as well. Well done. As for the graininess, I think it adds to the mood. Link to comment
dennismk 0 Posted March 3, 2002 The dark area conter points the sky in a wonderful mysteries manner, giving the image a sense of wonder of stepping into another time of myth and legend. Well done indeed! Link to comment
