peterlyons 0 Posted April 6, 2006 Matthew- This is a fine example of how ordinary objects can become art when they're approached creatively. I think you did an excellent job with the lighting here. I like the variation in the tone of the reflections on the wrench, the way some areas are dark and others are light. It would be fun to play with this more still. Maybe there would be a way to eliminate the burn-out inside the mouth of the wrench. Cool idea, Matthew! Peter Link to comment
jnicholson 0 Posted April 6, 2006 Hi Matthew, I'll agree with Peter, it is a cool idea and the wrench seems to be well lit. The "background", or surface on which it sits, however, needs some improvement. It doesn't seem to contribute anything. I'd suggest continuing the idea with some different backgrounds. All the best. Charles_Webster 226 Posted April 6, 2006 I agree. This is an excellent idea, the lighting is great (except for that double reflection in the jaws) but the background seems to be out of character w/ the clean minimalist lines and shapes of the wrench. Maybe a more featureless background? Good work, thanks for sharing. Everything in the frame must contribute to the picture. Link to comment
peterlyons 0 Posted April 6, 2006 I agree with Jamie and Charles about the background. Not sure what specifically to suggest.... Link to comment
ma2hew 0 Posted April 6, 2006 Peter, Jamie, Charles, Thanks for the encouragment and the critique. I too am stuck on what to do for a background. I was trying for a simple, so I am at a bit of a loss on how to go "simpler". I like the burned out portion in the middle of the claw. That is not to say that I won't attempt it without as suggested. Thanks again. Link to comment
jnicholson 0 Posted April 7, 2006 It'd be an interesting lighting challenge but I bet it could look very cool just on black, maybe even high gloss. All the best. Link to comment
