Guest Guest Posted April 1, 2006 Interesting image that shows things that we'll never see here in the States. I wonder if there has ever been a car that tipped into the river by a careless driver. The image needs some lighting balance. Would have been better had one of those small boats actually moving in the middle of the river. Link to comment
Dale M 1 Posted April 2, 2006 Oh yes, cars have tipped in. I once saw an articulated lorry upside-down in a canal.I think you're right about the light balance, but as it is it is an unmodified photograph, and the contrast is kinda nice as well. If there was a boat in the middle I think we would have lost the reflection...Thanks for the comments Thai, they're really appreciated! Link to comment
Dale M 1 Posted April 3, 2006 I just looked at this image on a different computer screen, and the right-hand side is in complete darkness, whereas on the other one all the details can clearly be seen! I've learned a lesson from this at least - if an image needs light balancing, maybe your monitor does... Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 4, 2006 You meant the right-hand side complete darkness? I can make out all details on the left but only most on the right. Monitor calibration cost about $150 and up for moderate models. Link to comment
color 3 Posted April 4, 2006 Nice shot. There's a lot more water in Berlin than most people suspect. I agree about the monitor calibration. It's better if you do it. Mine cost $100. I think a lot of the variation in photo ratings comes from people seeing different contrast, brightness, and colors than the one who created the image. Link to comment
jyl1 0 Posted April 6, 2006 Fabulous shot. I love the symmetry...with the focus on the statue at the end. Well done. :o) Link to comment
Marvin 4 Posted May 13, 2006 Itook the shot into Photoshop CS, went to adjustment, highlight and shadows, and hit OK. The result seems fine - to me. Link to comment
Dale M 1 Posted May 16, 2006 Hmm... not sure. Firstly, this is an unmanipulated image which shows the scene pretty much as I saw it (it was a very bright day with hard shadows). Also, I think your modified version doesn't have the same impact as the original - it looks more like a holiday snapshot to me. Certainly the reflection on the water is not so pronounced. Finally, the modified version doesn't really feel like my photo - it feels like I'm looking at someone else's efforts (which, of course, I am!)I think on reflection (pardon the pun!) an image somewhere between mine and yours would be best. Thanks for showing the modification - I'd be very interested to know how others feel about it... cherlyn 1 Posted April 16, 2007 I like the converging angle that provides a leading line to the tower. The right side light is fine, the left side is dark yet details still can be seen. I even saw the reflected image of the river on the one of the car's window. Link to comment
charles_seef 0 Posted July 8, 2007 I like this one a lot. I wouldn't change the lighting or contrast other than possibly to darken or "deepen" the sky a little. I'd say a very good capture without PS manipulation. Link to comment

giidii 0 Posted November 12, 2010 Hi, this is your best photo so far in your port. (If you turn it left one-eighth of a degree it'd be perfect.) best regards, g.p.s.: also, the window in the upper right hand corner is nice. Link to comment
