Sorry that the focus is a hair off the bird's head and more on the

wings.

Nice capture, could use some sharpening and blending of the background horizontal lines, they take little bit from the image.

There is not much DOF in the 300-500mm range. For a sitting bird, I usually try and stay near f8 if the light allows. For full sunlight, the exposure would probably be on the order of 1/750 second, f8, ISO 400.
