arthur sevestre 0 Posted January 16, 2002 Amazingly beautiful and very timeless (looks a bit like a very old painting). The lighting is absolutely perfect. I also love the clothes he's wearing. I wonder if there's an interesting story behind the shot... Link to comment
jodie coston 0 Posted January 18, 2002 Wow, I agree. This is a fantastic portrait, lighting, colors, the model's pose and far-off look - it all works together wonderfully. Link to comment
mgarde 0 Posted January 19, 2002 Just beautiful. I second the Rembrandt comments. My only quibble is the wish for a little more space at the bottom of the picture, so the hands are not cut off. Link to comment
cd thacker 0 Posted January 20, 2002 Fine, fine, fine. I'm not giving out "10s" anymore; but if I were, I'd certainly give two here. Link to comment
ladawna 0 Posted January 20, 2002 It's a striking photo. I'm sorry but I've looked at it several times and just have to ask - doesn't it look like he is cracking his knuckles? At first I found it distracting but now I think it is charming - makes me wodner if he wasn't as comfortable in front of the camera as he first appears, and it proves to us this IS a photo and NOT a painting. It gives some additional story to the picture, and it was kind of fun to discover. (Or is it just me?) Link to comment
steve_strawn 0 Posted January 20, 2002 I blew past this for the first time thinking it was a photo of a painting. Man is this ever good. I feel like I need to see a print of this, because it is just plain solid. Link to comment
alexferrer 0 Posted January 21, 2002 Excellent! This is really good, can you expand on how it happened? Link to comment
alexey_tikhonov1 0 Posted January 21, 2002 thanks a lot;) how it happened - my friends (Daniil and his wife) gained access to old attic in the house they live in (in the centre of St.Petersburg) - we've moved there and i took several shots. Second session in next few days resulted in this shots Link to comment
bob fowler 8 Posted January 21, 2002 I absolutely love the lighting, costume, pose and overall tone of the photo. Damn fine work! Link to comment
honza dvorak 0 Posted January 21, 2002 Like many other posters here I first thought this is a photo of an old painting. I was surprised when I discovered it is not. Reminds me Rembrandt style. This is something I would like to achieve in the future. Link to comment
robert goldstein 0 Posted January 22, 2002 This is one of the most captivating portraits that I have seen in quite a while. All the elements-lighting, color, pose and composition- work together perfectly. Link to comment
AntonioC 8 Posted January 22, 2002 Really great, I skipped it earlier thinking it was a photo of a painting. Excellent! Link to comment

rick vincent 1 Posted April 16, 2002 Nor does it look like it is of the last three centuries. I feel like I'm staring at a painting from 400 years ago. Link to comment
