Applecross Sky(e)

ian cameron

My favourite from a selection I took on my old Pentax 67II loaded with Velvia. The light was quite sublime and provided an everchanging tapestry of colour and hue. Viewed from a cliff top location near Applecross, across the bay to Skye. Please take a look at some new images recently uploaded to Transient Light and Timecatcher.

A wonderful view to the mountains of Skye. The sinking sun provided

a quite sublime display of ligh, colour and changing hue.

I like the composition and sense of emptyness/infinite space. However, the colors are leaving me a little cold. I think this could work great in B&W.

Excellent image. Ian what brand filters do you use with the Pentax zoom. I was looking at this lens and noticed the filter size was quite large.

Shame you don't like the colours Stephane they are genuine and accurately emulate the original tranny. the sand by the way is very red the light has emphasised it. As for the filters I use Hitek ones in the 100mm range with a 95mm threaded ring. I just about manage to avoid vignetting with this combo.

Ian, I truly believe you about the colors. I never doubt that they were false! It is just that to me, with such a landscape, I would have seen it more in term of B&W. I guess it is just a matter of taste.

This is an attractive, nicely framed middle-tone seascape. I'd be interested to play with it some and see how it would look with boosted contrast, too. But that's not to say I don't like the way you've done it too!

I strongly believe the colours contribute in a major way to the success of this image ...lovely. However, these days I'm trying to be a little more realistic

in rating the originality factor ... cheers.

Thanks Walter glad you enjoy it. I reckon it would make a first rate romantic greetings card image. You already know my thoughts on the importance of originality when it comes to the work I produce.
