I like this. I think the gate on the left is distracting. Cool tone.

I think this is great, I would think it was amazing if there were no gate or person in the background. Not being picky...they genuinely cught my attention when I looked at the shot

I'm with you on the gate, would even like to get rid of the table, but I think the person is nice, especially with the caption, "I'll be bigger than you some day." Sadly the next time I'll be back in Santa Fe and able to shoot gunther again, he'll be as big as me.

I actually didn't consider the removal of the table and I can see what you are saying but either way it was my opinion (ultimately it's what you wanted that matters) and still is that this is a great shot. Gunther is Beautiful. The light is great, the scene feels crisp & clean yet the big fluffy brute is in the middle. Makes me think of my late Black Retriever. Also I want to pat that big chest and those big front legs :-) Keith

that's the great thing about opinions...we all have 'em, and they're all different and so conflicting.

 

personally, i love everything about it. i the gate 'thing' and the table on the left side for me, acts as a 'wall', or an element , which moves me to the puppy and draws me in the the figure in the backfround, then the table, then the gate 'thing'. all those elements keep you in the frame, as well as the feint floor line that pulls you in. and the naked foreground that takes up half the frame is perfect.

 

the lighting and exposure fits the subjects perfectly.
