Guest Guest Posted March 14, 2006 Beautiful. An excellent winter landscape. The perspective provided by the parallel vanishing rows of stubble is magnificant. I especially like that the composition includes the distant snowy hill at top left, which adds another layer to the landscape. The larger version is truly a pleasure to contemplate and explore. The only criticisms I can offer are very, very minor -- the gradient or vignetting in the sky seems a bit too heavy, at least for my taste, and (to truly pick nits) it would be good if the closest stalk in each row were not cut off. This is a beautiful image. Link to comment
minicucci 0 Posted March 14, 2006 I agree with Chris on both ends of the spectrum: this is a beautiful image and there are a couple of nits that would further strengthen it. Nice, nice work. Link to comment
photos of hans koot 0 Posted March 15, 2006 beautifull work, great sense of depth, well worked out, good exposure. Dark sky i presume due to the pola. Link to comment
bille 0 Posted March 16, 2006 Joaquim, Chris, Patricia, Hans, thanks very much for thoughtful comments and helpful suggestions for improvement. I think you are right about cloning away the cut-off stalks at the bottom. The gradation in the sky is partly added in PS and is partly due to the polarizer used. I think I like the slightly darker sky in the corners. Cheers, Michael Link to comment

AJHingel 127 Posted April 9, 2006 Michael this is indeed a great picture that deserves our full attention. I agree with the comments on the refined tones but I think the real wonders of this is the composition. The scene is playing with the eyes of the observer. On one side the scene is centred due to the horizon of the snowwhite parts but all lines of the majot part of the scene, the field, lead your eye to the right - towards the church tower. These two complementory structures transform, as far as I experience it, this static scene into a dynamic one. I agree with Chris on the small pearl of additional landscape perspectives up to the left. Finally the comments on the vignetting and cloning needs are good advices. I find it interesting to see how such scenes that catch our photographic eye as something special worthy of a photo, in some cases can be explained by simple analysis of the composition. It is not only feelings but composition analysis serves a good purpose - in some cases, but not in all. Yet another of your marvelous photos. Anders Link to comment

carsten_ranke 0 Posted January 9, 2008 I like this very much, for several reasons. First, it reminds me of my own country. Second, your composition makes perfect use of lines in sky and land part. Third, your choice of wide angle intensifies the feeling of vastness and space, very well performed landscape ! Link to comment
