amalsircar 2 Posted March 16, 2006 Pnina, thanks for sharing this image. Technically it is very good. But what I like most is your effort to introduce less-known locales and locals, to people all over the world. Your empathy is infectious,as evident from comments of pn community. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted March 16, 2006 Peta, aside from the image quality that I looked for, I wanted the information for people to see, hugs Hiroya Daily ;-)) and Amal, thanks for connecting to it. Chris, Mali is a desert , the color in many parts is a dull light brown, but the people is another story, they bring the colors to the country, their cloths, fabrics, jewlery and drawings .I think that what you see on the boat is their way of decorating the vessle, if it has another meaning I really don't know, but aside of being Muslems they have also an animistic side, so maybe it has some correletaion to it. Thanks again to all of you. Link to comment
orensztajn 0 Posted March 16, 2006 I like like in a documentary way, I feel is more that kind of pic for me. It is weel executed, nice exposure and a lot of interesting things to look at. Like that biuldning, seems like out of scope, a very nice pic. Link to comment
hansio 0 Posted March 16, 2006 If I'm not mistaking the shot, Pnina, it is Mopti. Bamako does not have this building. Mali? Together with Niger perhaps the most impressive places one can imagine. Love the ambiance in your image. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 16, 2006 Very nice view of life by the river bank. You managed to capture the colour in this place well. Cheers! Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted March 16, 2006 Thanks!! you are right it is Mopti. Thanks for remembering it and reminding me the right location. I saw and wrote you before about your Sahara dunes which are remarkable! Thats the only place I missed (being in Timbuktu) because of lack of time, and I'm sorry for that. BTW, all my photographic gear was covered with Nylon pouches...especially in the desert parts... alot of wind and dust, but a fascination. Andrew, thanks for your comment as well. Link to comment

paula grenside 0 Posted March 16, 2006 Pnina, what a contrast between the modern buildings and natives' life. Excellent composition and another beautiful shot in this series. Link to comment
dexdee 0 Posted March 17, 2006 Yes, contrast is very visible. Poverty all arround, and the buildings on the top are pretty modern. DDD Link to comment

aepelbacher 0 Posted April 19, 2006 Hi Pnina! Now that I'm back in the land of people-who-have-time, I'm going back to the Mali folder to catch up on your last several photos before moving on to your recent stuff. :-) I love the glimpses into real life that you've given us here in your Mali images. This one is great - the plank upon which the boat is boarded, the canopy over the boat, the "tall" building across the river, and all of the activity on both banks. It must be an extremely busy place! When should we expect the Mali presentation? :-) Warm regards!! Link to comment
