I'm wondering if this is such a dull shot, that it deserves a 1/1

w/out any explanation. What do you think?

Anyway, any adtional feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The thumbnail looks like my aircondition filter! This is one of that shots that only look good at 11x14 or above to accentuate the scale. Nice

The thumbnail had me confused also, but, on seeing the larger print I must say it deserves more than a 1/1. It is beautifully simple and very well executed both compositionaly and exposure.

don't worry about the 1/1s. I had someone a while ago go through almost all my photos and put 1/1s on them. Frustrated me for a while, I even e-mailed him/her/it a couple of times politely asking what I could do to improve. But alas, never heard back.

Nestor, 1/1 is way off in my opinion. This is a great shot but for the placement of the subject in the frame. Again, it's only my opinion but I'd like to see him in the bottom right corner looking into the space you have photographed. Perhaps a photoshop solution? Here is my take on yet another possible solution. Your comments? Best, LM.

There's a one-oner born every minute. Usually with a phoney e-mail address and no photo uploaded. I wouldn't worry about it too much. But it's sure infuriating to have a good picture "sunk" by a single bad rating.

Nestor,

I saw this and thought it was great shot.

The kind that for some reason I never manage to capture. Very well done.

As for the 1/1 raters. They suck. Usually you can check out their folders and they either don't have anything posted or it's snapshots.

The person that rated your folder had some stuff posted.. not bad.. in my opinion not great.

Not nearly as strong as your shot. But what can ya do?

You could e-mail them.. and ask them what they thought it was that was so bad about it that it had to receive a 1/1. Like others have posted.. they usually won't respond. The same lot usually doesn't post insightful or helpful critiques either.

But in the end.. it's all inherently part of the goofy-ass numbers rating system here at Photo.net. - so while at first it's irritating.. I'd wouldn't worry about it.

The shots stands by itself well.

And easily withstands cheap-shots like 1/1's.

Congrat's on a damn good shot.

ciao,

Luc

At first I was thinking "Well, this dude's sure got lines down pat" but after looking at the larger file its quite stylish.

Does it deserve a 1/1 ? Yes, of course it does - from perfect people only of course... :-)

... you just gave me a great idea... I have such a collection of 1 / 1 myself, and I'm sure I will get new ones in a day or two, so I will do what you did... post it in the critique is perfect in fact...

Thanks for the feedback. I wrote to the elves, they erased the 1/1. I had many others from the same person on other shots. Somebody that could not accept a 4/6 from me...

Certainly not a 1/1, but that does occur commonly here. Again, like the others, until I saw the 'large' size I was thinking 1/1. But now...7/9 Can you tell us any more about the memorial?

Sure, Frank! Rosario, the city where I live here in Argentina, is the place where our flag was created. This memorial simulate a ship -an enormous one. The shot was token from the "mast" -everybody can go up there with an elevator. These stairs are the "deck".

If you want to see something more, you can take a look to this same folder.

I don't know if that's enough for you... Let me know, I can tell you more...

I think I'll soon be shooting something more, I have some other ideas...

Thanks for your appreciations!

Thanks, Mr. Botta. That seems like a beautiful memorial and very patriotic. I must say that I like this shot best of the series, but the rest help complete the picture.

Take care,

Frank

Sometimes a 1/1 is a compliment: the endorsement of some persons would be a condemnation, and, if it pleases them too much, there must be something wrong with it.

I like it, for what that's worth.

i like this photo for it's texture and scale. and i think it is the best one in the folder, however, i really like to seem them all together. what was the event? or, maybe that's a dumb question. it's probably a tourist attraction.

Oh, no, David... it's not a dumb question... It IS a touristic attraction, but in this case there was more people than usual, cause they were waiting for a singer to perform -some hours later... Imagine this same place over-crowded with public... Hey! That's another new idea!! (thanks for the inspiration... hahahaha)

Looks like I missed the train here. Odd ratings are usually from either the uninformed new members who aren't well aware of the rating criterias or the new photographers who hasn't learn much about art appreciation. Well, looks like the raiting was removed or adjusted--good for you. Anyway, about this piece, certainly best in the folder.... minimalistic & perfect.
