stephen hazelton 3 Posted March 11, 2006 I like this shot the best out of the three. I like the surreal look. The wings could be omitted, the ghostliness could be omitted, and I think it would still have very much the same look and effect. As to the contest, I can't say. I don't really see a strong message one way or the other about the death penalty here, and I'm not sure I'd even associate it with that were it not for the title. I assume that's an electric chair, but without the surroundings and gear that go with it, it's not real recognizable as such. Link to comment
daviddbfotoart 0 Posted April 6, 2006 I'm interested about the competition. What was the criteria? This is my favourite amongst the 3, it seems the most emotive. My only critism is the horizon matches the height of the chair, and the chair gets lost. Drop your angle to discern the two. Link to comment
anthonyd 0 Posted August 16, 2006 WHAT I LIKE: The colors. The composition. Her red dress and expression show her anger. To me, the subject matter is clear. WHAT I WOULD DO DIFFERENT: If he is now dead and she has come to confront him, she should be faded as well. I'll assume that this is meant to be a "PRO" Death Penalty statement (I'm not sure why). If that is true, I would like to see him showing some remorse at this point. On the other hand, if it's meant to be "ANTI" Death Penalty, his expression works well as it seems to say that nothing has changed him and nothing ever will! All and all this photo makes the viewer think so I like it! Did you enter this one? If so, how did it do? With Respect, Anthony Link to comment
misti morris 0 Posted August 16, 2006 Thanks Anthony. I did not mean for this to be pro or anti death penalty. I contemplated it and my feelings for a while before shooting, and hoped my feelings aobut the death penalty would be conveyed. However, I wanted it to strike both sides of the fence. Thanks for the wonderful comments. Link to comment
