Very nice! How to elevate an excellent cave shot with a great scale figure...

Oh yes, and the 21mm f2 is such a brilliant lens.

Thanks again to all! I just found an error in details. This was taken with zuiko 28mm/2.0 and not 21mm/2.0. I have some photos of this chamber taken also with 21mm, because I want to capture more ceiling and walls, but angle of 21mm is too wide for this really big chamber.

Peter, do you also have one with the caver looking at you with the headlamp on? Does this come bright enough? Can one actually cheat, and tie a high-power scuba light onto the head of the person so to get more light, in case? I ask all this since I like this image a lot -how couldn't I- and I think a bright spot down there would balance even more the light from above and bring this over the top.

Even with small lamp on helmet light would be to bright, and finally it would look like caver has a huge bright dot instead of head. Exposure was around 1,5 or 2 minutes and was too long for such light sources. Scuba lights would be extreme too bright.

I did not think it was such a long exposure time. I now understand the problem. Thanks for the clarification. It looks like you have to hack a small cable with a switch into the battery compartment of the headlamp so that you can switch it off without the subject having to move too much!

Yes, i have been thinking of this kind of gadget for quite some time, but i have never find enough time to make it. Poor excuse, I know :-)

Reminds me of that awful flm entitled "The Descent", the girl was carrying a Nikon F5 with her i think, but i cant really remember as i try to strike awful films from my memory.

I love the photo though, really dramatic. Would look good at a high level of enlargment (with reason to a good level of sharpness).

Excellent. Thank you for showing a place in such a wonderful way. And, a place most will never see any other way.

Excellent shot. Also, the person gives it a sense of the scale. Nice lighting, nice texture of the walls. ...just add butter and enjoy with soy milk :-)

A very good balance of artificial and natural light, the figure is just right for giving scale. Did you have to make a number of exposures ?

I know this was not to impress but to exude how and what you are inside.

Your perspectives and what you are all about.

Perfect image.

I dont know anything about cameras but I do know and feel great art and messages that can only be revealed with an awesome picture.

Great, awesome, takes me to a special level.

Thanks.

First, AWESOME shot! The "figure" in the shot makes it much more dramatic.

Second, since I like to play w/ these types of situations I'm wondering what HDR could do for this?! You'd most definately lose the soft light inside the cavern, but the detail outside and in the shadows would be intense.

Not saying it would make the image better, just a different result for a different type of impression.

None the less, outstanding work.
