salvatore.mele 1 Posted March 16, 2006 This represents quite nicely the magic transition of the mountain colours from cold hues to warm ones. Some pink is appearing but the cold colours still dominate: this creates a tension in the viewer, trying to imagine the blossoming of a new day. Compositionally, I've mixed feelings on the relative smallness of the mountain itself, it is necessary to give due space to the sky, but lets it hold less attention that deserved. This is somewhat compensated by the idea of the left-hand side tree to frame the image from that corner: it blocks our possible escape and foces the eye back onto the mountain. I find a nice rythm in the stripes of warmer light onto the snow, and the way this patterns extends into the clouds... visions of a zebra throughout the image, on land and in the sky. Link to comment
