kirt1 0 Posted March 9, 2006 Panning with the runner going to 1st. Tough to find the compromise between shutter speed that blurs the background and getting something halfway sharp since heads and helmets seem to move around a lot. Ideas? Link to comment

kirt1 0 Posted March 9, 2006 Okay, I'm all for honest and open ratings. Heck, I'm not claiming I deserve anything better than a three. However, no matter what I post it sure seems like a three shows up quickly. I guess what I'd hope is that if you want to toss up a three, I'd love to know more about what you didn't like. I'm here to learn, really. I could find a place where I could just hang out with fellow sports enthusiasts, but I want the kind of perspectives that the talented folks who post here can give. And if it isn't a coincidence, and I ticked somebody off with a rating back when I was just figuring out how to use the site, I'm sorry. If you didn't like one of my critiques, well, I do my best to offer suggestions in a constructive way, and hope to never offend, but if I have, again, I'm sorry. Thanks for reading, Kirt Link to comment
mark_bolton1 0 Posted March 10, 2006 Good moment w/ the blur. Your eye goes to her expression. Link to comment
kctwain 0 Posted March 10, 2006 Really neat photo, Kirt. I love all of the motion, but your ability to capture the intensity on her face clearly is commendable. It's hard to believe that one part of this photo could be in focus while everything else is a blur of movement. Well done. Link to comment
hilonesome 0 Posted June 10, 2006 Good capture Kirt. My daughter starts playing SB next year, just finished her teeball season. Use to think a blur meant the photo was not acceptable, now I am reading it is part of photography, sports photography especially. Did you crop the photo this way? I think the other hand would have completed the picture better. I love the expression you captured on her face and the action brought out by the blur. Your softball portfolios are great, keep up the good work. Also, completely agree with you about the threes. You just put it alot nicer than I have been able to. Loren Sutherland Link to comment
kirt1 0 Posted June 10, 2006 This is pretty much full-frame. I should probably try the same shot with something smaller than my 300. I was concentrating on her head, so in that regard I got most of what I wanted. Surprisingly, now that I'm known as the team photographer, I don't get as much time to experiment as you'd think. Whenever a big play happens I get a chorus of "Did you get that?" :-) Link to comment
