Hello Miles, this is a very striking image of the girl. She has a very melancholic look about her. It's beautifully captured.

Thanks Peter. There are many children who wander the vast corridors of Angkor Wat in the hope of some foreign dollars. Despite her melancholic look at this moment, she and most of the others seem to be having a whale of a time running around and playing. They are probably earning more than their parents!

Damn this is fine work. Again, every element of the composition gels to produce an image with many dimensions of interest, from the human subject to the layers of architecture to the woman in the background. All of these then lead the mind on to the history of the building, the girl's story, and so forth. A first-rate documentary shot, and to my mind, one of the deepest and most meaningful genres of photography.

Very well composed Mils. The little window on the Rhs. is ballancing the composition. The girl and her surrounding tells the story of life there.Just coming from Mali West Africa, and seeing the plight of so many people, I think that it is importent to tell their story, and as it is said that a photo tells more than words, it is importent to upload the images, in order at least evoke awarness. Thanks for sharing yours good work from Cambodia( among others).

Thanks Chris for your analysis. When I take a photo like this I try to put the subject into context by using the surroundings to evoke the whole story. Hopefully this kind of composition is more interesting.

You are absolutely right about the balancing of the composition. This is something I seem to do quite a lot which I've noticed when looking back over my images. Thanks for your comment,
