Chinese Magnolia 1

Last year they told me these were Japanese magnolia. Anyway, this

one was in the process of losing its petals, creating, IMO, an

interesting configuration.

Ransford, very good image. It has a sketched/drawn characteristic to it. More often than not, I don't like that. But in this case, it is very effective. I also like the way the flower is arranged in the frame and the light hues in the background. Great shot.

Ed: This flower comes out this time of year before the tree has put out its leaves. Thus, the flowers are often spectacular while the backgrounds are scraggly branches. I prefer to isolate the flowers, giving them a bit of a botanical-illustration look. I give the background just a bit of color to distinguish the white petals.

This particular flower seemed to me to have an interesting personality.
