Guest Guest Posted August 2, 2009 I like this folder in particular a lot. I particularly like the energy you've captured and conveyed here. A lot of that has to do with the swirling textures of the flowers themselves but I think your lighting and composition really adds to the dynamic quality of the shot. It's graphic and formal and also feels heartfelt and personalized. It reminds me of Blossfeldt's . . . its tactile qualities, great sense of design, and starkness. There's an interesting play of foreground/background here, especially how the foreground stem seems almost to merge with the background flower, sort of flattening into the backgrond pattern, almost becoming like a cutout up there. This captures a different side of the beauty of flowers, not just the beauty of nature but the beauty of a photograph. Link to comment
wood 1 Posted August 2, 2009 Thank you sincerely for your thoughtful comment on this photo. This is one of my earlier B&W conversions and I think I would process it differently now. But the image itself is one of my favorites and I am very glad that you chose this one to comment on. I see this as a very layered photo, and almost seems to be a composite. The lines and forms are what drew me to this plant initially, and I still enjoy shooting these today. Thanks again, Robert. Link to comment
