Dancers taken at 'The Bite' in Portland, OR. This is an early photo of mine (circa 1998) taken with my first ever camera, a Konica AutoreflexTC used for photography class.

I didn't keep records then, so I don't know the exposure settings, but I believe it was 1/30 shutter speed, possibly 1/15. I was using 400 speed film because I had it and I was (am) cheap.

This was taken at The Bite of Portland (Oregon) in 1998. I spent a

lot of time taking crowd shots during the day, and at night decided

to play around with my last roll of film (400 speed even), and

captured this shot. It was one of the few that turned out well, and

I can't help but wonder what I would have come up with had I had film

more suited for the conditions. As I'm an amateur, I'd appreciate

any feedback and tips/tricks you can suggest.

I'd have to agree with Jason. My eye looks for something in the foreground, and then switches to the light, switches back to the fore. I think the image might have been stronger with an intentional "jiggle" to create something with the back light.
