jayme 0 Posted March 20, 2006 Not to sound disagreeable, but it seems the discussion has all centered on whether the image was straight? Who cares really? I liken it to "missing the forest for the trees". There are so many imperfections in life that only seem to make an item more beautiful. For example, what about "how this image makes one feel as you look at it?". Does it bring back memories of a time when you use to run? Or a feeling of "One person against the odds?. Or "how small we really are in the scheme of things?" These are just examples, not necessarily my feelings. My thought is, yeap, the horizon is not perfectly straight, but does it impact the effectiveness or beauty of the image. In my opinion, not really. So why beat a dead horse & muddy up the waters, accept it as it is & appreciate the beauty that was captured. Perfection is an unattainable persuit. Fleeting victory at best. To paraphrase, it's not the destination that's important, it's the journey. Just my opinion, I could be wrong :) Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 27, 2006 My point regarding "digital B&W" is that digital doesn't have the same dynamic range as film...which is why I say it could still use a tad more tonal range. I shoot digital and film, by the way, so I'm not expressing any prejudice against digital capture at all. Link to comment
robertpastierovic 0 Posted March 29, 2006 For example, what about "how this image makes one feel as you look at it?" Jayme Hall The problem is that the tilt distracts from aesthetical perception. At least in my case. Link to comment
dievee 0 Posted September 18, 2006 Exellent image, great tones and contrast, I absolutely like it like it is. The only thing that maybe could make it even stronger in my opinion is to darken (burn) the curved lower part on the right side. I think that it will give the image more depht. Congrats! kparratt 1 Posted December 26, 2007 Dear F. Monteiro, I found this just before logging off for the night, and I am glad I did. It is a precious image. I like it very much, just the way YOU made it. Congratulations. Kevin. Link to comment
