will king 0 Posted February 26, 2006 Phil, seems as though you have conquered something that has been my biggest challenge. Good exposure! Especially considering you're shooting directly at the sun. Good composition, although I think maybe you should eliminate or show more of the rock peeping in on the left hand side. There also a speck of sensor dust in the upper right side that of course can easily be cloned out. I hope your don't mind me making a suggestion, but Jayme Hall suggested this to me and it's been really beneficial. Create a duplicate layer and on the second layer, give it a linear burn and then decrease the opacity of the second layer down to around 5%. I find it really adds a punch to my photos. phil morgan 0 Posted February 26, 2006 Top tip Will! Such a simple technique made a huge difference to this shot. I have also due to lack of time VERY roughly cloned out the rock on the left and have to agree it is much better. As for the exposure it was a breakthrough evening for me, I actually managed to take a shot that worked with nd grads!! This was done with a 0.9 and 0.6 hitech soft grads stacked together.
