davidmccracken 2 Posted February 26, 2006 For a bit of fun, it's come out pretty good. I would like the face to be a touch sharper but I do love the composition. Link to comment
nicholasprice 0 Posted February 26, 2006 Thanks David - I agree totally about the sharpness! Regards, Nick. Link to comment
pjmeade 12 Posted February 27, 2006 Hello Nick, those are some very retro horn-rims. The blue caste, the lighting and the machine in the background give it a rather decadent air. Why did you flip the image? Pete Link to comment
nicholasprice 0 Posted February 27, 2006 Hi Pete, I'm glad that you love my silly old fashioned glasses (I don't wear them that often, but I have been told that they are cute!) - the image isn't flipped, I think that there is a mirror reflection in this particular pub! - this photograph essentially represents a curiosity - yes it is a daft self portrait, but more importantly it represents my first DIGITAL offering, all be it from a camera phone! Fond regards, Nick. Link to comment
pjmeade 12 Posted February 28, 2006 Hello Nick, I can see the mirror now. For some reason I thought the Ride @ bike shot was camera-phone, so I failed to understand the significance of this one. It's going to be interesting to how your portraiture progresses when using a phone. My wife went digital for her birthday and she loves it. http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=4138400 Best wishes. P Link to comment
ricardo navarro 0 Posted March 1, 2006 Hi Nick. I agree with David. Curious shot indeed, it got my attention immediately. I do like the "composition" overall, although the lower-right corner looks somewhat cluttered. And colour-wise it looks pretty balanced to me. No idea where the blue in your face comes from, but it is nicely replicated by the reflections on the right, and the electric yellow touch of the center lamp goes pretty well with it, but again the lower-right corner ... So would you consider some selective burning there, along with some cropping right and top to dispose with the far right center highlights? Original shot, although I would not know how to rate it aesthetically, so a 4 seems appropriate. I am also about to buy a compact digital ... I suppose we all will be "spoilt" sooner or later ;) Best regards. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 3, 2006 The lighting makes it look like a composite, but upon looking closer I'm fairly convinced that it isn't - 'eye' catching. Link to comment
pturton 10 Posted March 7, 2006 Nick, Somehow this appears to me as a happy blue feeling;-) You prove that a great camera system is not needed to make a great image. Nicely done! Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted March 10, 2006 Great fun, Nick. I like how your face looks a bit down-in-the-dumps lethargic while the background is energetic Link to comment
novastorm 0 Posted August 25, 2006 Wow I know it's been a while, but what happened to all that black and white I liked so much. :) Very electric Nic, Jimi Hendrix would be proud. Greetings, Nova ~ Link to comment
paula grenside 0 Posted October 23, 2006 Nick. Very original composition with the face peeping from the corner. Link to comment
