dave miller 0 Posted January 6, 2002 I like this because it tells me something of a way of life of which I know little, and a very precarious one it seems to be. Good view point, but I find the fisherman to be just a little too dark. Link to comment
twmeyer 0 Posted January 8, 2002 I like it because you were there to make it. The "dark" tonality fits the overcast sky, and doesn't withhold any information important to the success of the image. Lighter would just be lighter, not necessarily better. The positioning of all the elements give me much more info than more shadow detail would. The tension of the bodies in relationship to the forces of the river, conveyed throught the pole and the resistance of the bamboo raft are the critical pieces of info. Set against the weather and the reeds, everything that needs to be said, is. If someone wanted to see the faces of these people, that would be a good reason to post another photo from this day. Beautiful photo... t Link to comment
kieran_hamill 0 Posted January 10, 2002 They are not transporting wood, they are simply not very proficient at making canoes. The far man has speared a small trout. The nearer gentleman has inadvertently speared a crocodile, which is pulling him off his hastily assembled boat. Link to comment
