pnital 36 Posted February 25, 2006 Jim, comparing both of them, The crop for sure makes it better, and I like the color range of this one, more compatible to the subject and has a good contrast. we learn all the time.... Pnina Link to comment
jim kerr 0 Posted February 25, 2006 Jan, thank you so much for your comments, wish now that I had walked a little further and got a couple shots straight in front of the house....Jim Link to comment
marco_ruggiero 0 Posted February 25, 2006 This one I prefer only because I feel that the B & W adds to the decrepitdness of the place and yet the other is as attractive in its own way. Great shot and great place to put the house! Next to the Dead End sign. Je Je Je. Good shot. Link to comment
jim kerr 0 Posted February 25, 2006 Good morning Pnina, I can't agree more. I was fortunate that by the time I'd made this shot, that I'd learned enough to get something resembling a good exposure on the film. I'm wondering what magic Tony could do with this. Hope he doesn't see this and think I expect him to put his time into it.....Jim Link to comment

palmtree 0 Posted February 25, 2006 Hey Jim, this is a great shot! I love the feeling this imparts, and the commentary the sign adds to the story. well done.. and I think its great in B&W also. Nice work. Link to comment
jim kerr 0 Posted February 25, 2006 Thank you Mike, Believe it or not, I put this in a photo contest once, and it was exhibited( much to my surprise) in our State Capitol Building in Indianapolis.....Jim Link to comment
raddatzphoto 0 Posted February 25, 2006 I was just reading about Afga following Kodak, discontinuing mfg of all B&W Paper. Much like time passing this house by, so too will we loose the ability to appreciate the noticable differences between holding a fine paper print, and staring at an illuminated pixel screen. Thankfully, because of digital revolution, I can catch a glimpse of what you felt here, and the promise of great print. Bittersweet. Link to comment
jim kerr 0 Posted February 25, 2006 Hello Mike, I still have all my enlarging stuff, but haven't used it since last August. What I think about digital is that, the industry has been improving the image quality for at least 2-3 decades and still can't equal film and paper of a century ago. I'm certainly glad there are some lesser known companies that will take up the slack. Wisdom has not been a requirement of for leadership of any corporation in the past 50 years that I've ever heard of.....Jim Link to comment
sam starkey 0 Posted March 31, 2006 Hi Jim I haven't forgotten you. What I am experiencing is,it is a give and take proposition.Digital takes away a lot of the problems that went along with film photography but it also brings it's share of problems with it.For the last three weeks I have been fighting cold mounting, hot mounting. Jesus this inkjet paper sure is fraigle.I miss Kodak boot leather papers, hell you could floor your living room with it and it would last for years. This is a wonderful shot Jim 7-7 P.S.There are a lot of photographs in my portfolio that are printed by hand with me cussing late at night in my dark room. Link to comment
jim kerr 0 Posted April 1, 2006 Hello Sam, neither have I forgotten you either, I was hoping you would see this one......About mounting, I've been using Scotch Positionable Mounting Adhesive#568 for many years now, it seems to work the same with regular RC paper or a digital paper. What I've always used comes as a roll 11 inches X 50 feet(just right for my 11x14 show prints), I'm pretty sure there is a wider roll, probably 20 inches, also. It's a sticky film like stuff, check it out on the web. To me it's a lot easier than anything else.....It's not cheap, the roll I buy is about $45......Jim Link to comment
