Who says an RZ can't be used outside of the studio?

 

What do you think of the cropping and depth of field?

What are you trying to say with this picture? It seems out of context - There's no clue to where or why the leaf is there. Were you unable to move in closer or did you want the top half to be clear space? Did you choose to have high contrast between the leaf and it's shadow or did it just happen that way?

 

Suggestions: Look into what you would need to do to photograph the leaf close up, so it fills most of the picture. Or, try to get some composition - either sharp or unfocused - in the background/foreground so the leaf is a focal point in a larger composition.

I like this picture. I think it's the most remarkable picture in you portfolio (6 ph.) so far. Maybe it isn't technically perfect, but it's another example of how such a simple everyday situation can produce such a powerful picture. The lighting here is perfect and sets the mood. The picture gives me a sense of triviality and loneliness. That's where the DOF comes in. The questions on cropping and focus don't have a very considerable impact on this scene. Well done.
