I really like the expressions, but I kept musing over whether it would look better with less space in the center and less crop on the girl on the right. Of course, I know this is candid snapshot and you probably couldn't have arranged everything!

Thank you for your comment. You are correct, it's candid and there was no way I could control them nor the situation. With candid photos that is almost always the case by definition. That is one reason that I enjoy it so much. It is an adventure to try to capture the scene, then see what you managed to get when you develop and print the pictures. For me, the aesthetic with this genre of photography is less the traditional composition, etc., and more the capture of the moment. If you manage to get both in the same frame, it's remarkable. For me, this picture is about the expression on their faces, and the connection between them that spans the distance.
