hansendj 0 Posted February 21, 2006 Thank you Jan and Davide, and yes, it was amazing! It's one of those feelings I wish would never go away. The airplane I'm flying in is another version of the one in the photo...only 17 flying in the world!! Link to comment
dillan k 0 Posted February 27, 2006 So this is what it would really look like? Thanks for giving an old dream some life! Link to comment
hansendj 0 Posted February 27, 2006 Dillan, I have nowhere near the skills needed to capture the feeling of this experience. This is just my best attempt. If you want to experience the real thing look up John Curtiss and the guys at the Warhawk Air Museum in Nampa, Idaho (www.warhawkairmuseum.org). BTW, this shot wasn't the best as far as comp., but most of the others were either overexposed or had canopy glare/reflections. I'll work on them in PS, and see if I can clear them up. Thanks for the comment! Link to comment
martinstott 0 Posted March 28, 2006 hi there Daniel just a quick comment about canopy glare. if you get the chance to go flying again take a circle of foam rubber with you about 10in in diamiter. cut a hole in the center and poke your lens through it push your lens up to the canopy but dont touch it and the disk will cut out 99% of all reflected light and your results will be far more contrasty and have no glare. the foam rubber only has to be thick enough to support itself. so it wont weigh enough to affect your shooting. best of luck. martin.. hansendj 0 Posted March 28, 2006 Hey Martin, first of all, I think you have fantastic work! Love it. Second, when I use this foam rubber, is it a solid disk with a hole cut out just for the lens so the whole area of the circle is pressed against the glass? What I mean is...it's not just a hood of sorts, right? Thanks for the great tip. I'll try it out as soon as I get the opportunity. Link to comment
martinstott 0 Posted March 28, 2006 thats right a solid disk with a hole cut out for the lens. and im dead envious of your flight as i have only managed to go up in two clasic aircraft, a pby catalina & an english electric lightning. Link to comment
crtslex 0 Posted July 9, 2006 What a thrill that must have been. Flyin' low, too - perfect. Nice sky/terrain. Link to comment
