lorraine 0 Posted January 5, 2002 I took this photo by chance when I was visiting my old stomping grounds, the White Mountains near the Blue River of New Mexico. The place is hardly populated by people and so the wildlife flourishes. Link to comment
michael_alexander3 0 Posted January 5, 2002 For a picture taken in the wild, this is one of the best I've seen. I've never seen a wild cougar. Link to comment
mark_kay 0 Posted January 5, 2002 This is great! I thought it was a zoo photo at first. With all the hiking I have done I have never seen a wild animal such as this! Link to comment
mplonsky 0 Posted January 5, 2002 Nice capture. A slight levels adjustment, increase in color saturation and sharpening gives it a lot more bang for the buck. Link to comment
nomade 1 Posted January 5, 2002 Here in southamerica, we call it "puma". You're very lucky seeing one, free and alive. They're getting more and more scarce. Given the desaturated colors..have you prove to make it B&W? Link to comment
joseph_davis 0 Posted January 5, 2002 I like this photo. The way the cougar is relaxing but you still get the tension in his face of always being on guard. I also like the way the light plays on the rocks and surrounding area. Would love to see this in B&W. Link to comment
billmagee 0 Posted January 8, 2002 I spend a bit of time backpacking and rarely see the larger carnivores and then to get so close and then to get the great picture. You must work hard at this. Bill Magee Link to comment
david_howe 0 Posted January 10, 2002 I would have attempted this kind of shot with a bigger zoom so that I would have a better chance of getting away :) 135mm you must have been close and hopefully in a car. If not you have my respect for courage. I like cat shots they have a natural ability of looking majestic. Well done. Link to comment
