Guest Guest Posted February 15, 2006 I LOVE this! The composition is absolutely *perfect* I love the subject too, and that stump in the foreground pleases me for no rational reason My only thought is that the whole image might be a little too bright - but particularly the left side. I took the liberty of making some changes, which are certainly free to dislike and toss in the trash Wonderful image -- where is this? What did you take it with? Oh - and I think the version I uploaded is softer than yours. Compression mostly, but you *might* want to compensate for that with your iamge too - add a slight bit more USM to it. I could be wrong tho. Link to comment
jim kerr 0 Posted February 17, 2006 Janie, I really do like this photo, one thing I especially like is is how well one can see the details shadows of the porch roof. Also the leveling is right on. Have you ever tried using a Polarizer on your lens? When the position of the sun is right(as it is here), the result can be very satisfying.....I'm really glad there are some of us are recording these older houses and other old buildings for posterity......Need to go,agreed to judge a photo show at the local art center....Later,hope you get to try the Spanish Rice recipe shortly.....Jim Link to comment
dberryhill 3 Posted April 8, 2006 Janie, I share Jim's thoughts on this. You took a very interesting old home and recorded just as it is, letting the place speak to the viewer, rather than imposing your own interpretation. The beauty of photography, as I see it. Link to comment
