Winter light Droma

ian cameron

A shot from a high altitude loch on the Garve - Ullapool road in Highlands, Scotland. At a 1000 feet it regularly receives a winter buffeting though not a drop of snow as yet. Never-the-less it has frozen solid in a prolonged bout of sub zero temperatures. I took this shot primarily for the wonderful white flare in the grey sky which was responsible for the soft silvery light that bathed the scene. Please take a look at some new images recently uploaded to Transient Light and Timecatcher.

Every cloud has a silver lining. I do wonder if these delicately

coloured images are just a bit to subtle in hue to attract the

attention of the majority of folk on this site. All critiques

welcome.

Ian, I love the pale light and pastel hues. Give me that any day over saturated "wow" colours. The feathery texture of the clouds is a nice balance for the hard rocks, seperated by the neutral hills. Give us more.

There is a very nice unity in composition and colors. Stones, hills and sky are playing together like a good orchesta. Pnina

Apart from the emotional and aesthetic aspects, I raelly do appreciate the technical perfection and the use of all elements.

Do not gossip on the subtelty of the photo.net members. On the whole, they are very much more likely to appreciate the good photos (and detest the bad ones) than members of other sites I have visited. Anyway I know one who find this photo is excellent.

This would make a very striking black and white! Also, I wouldn't worry about attracting the attention of people through use of bold colors. Just present the vision you have to offer - there will always be someone who will appreciate a great photo.
