Theme fit OK but execution could be improved a lot imho.

I think there is way too much in this shot. Too much clutter (the door, thing on the wall, chairs). To much red - draws too much attention away from the subject. I would suggest cropping a lot, or get a lot closer (or zoom a lot). Also, move up, so the bird (right) does not merge with the chair. Also, the current angle is a bit awkward in the sense that we can hardly see the plate and what's in it - another reason to move camera up.

Just some thoughts - feel free to disagree,

Well I think Tom is being quite tough. PT is hardly shooting off a tripod under studio lighting with full control over the models.

A lighthearted take PT : I think it's fun (but get those sparrows to smile next time!)

I have to say that I agree with Tom. The lighting's not that great - looks like too much flash, and the image is dominated by the grey blur of the table rim in the lower right of the frame. The eye has to get past this to get to the main subject. I'm not convinced that the askew angle does much for the composition either. I think the theme fit is there, but it's not compelling enough to rescue the shot.

Well, Seven, I certainly did not want to sound harsh. I agree with you it's a fun take on the theme, and the theme fit is more than OK for me. Sorry if my comments were impolite or nubalanced.

Not at all Tom - tongue in cheek - you are quite right to address the points you do when commenting (I remember when I infamously let rip on poor Belka who went on to be our mascot....)

Theme fit is there for sure. But I would like to see more closely the birds and their meal. Right now, I do find the table corner starting in the bottom to be quite distracting. It is taking too much place versus the main subject.

PT, this is a good candid shot and as far the theme goes it is good as well. I think it is fair to say that this is a "candid" shot and using flash is OK. If the choice is between loosing the "moment" and capturing the moment imperfectly I recommend choosing the latter. I like how the bird's foot is caught midair. I tried out a cropped BW version and that is attached.

It was a very 'spur of the moment' take it or lose it photo. This is another of the series, although the birds are rather blury in this one. I like the b&w version and I love the little foot up in the air as well. This photo the flash didn't go off. I had my back to them and it was pot luck. If I moved the birds would have flown away so it was click click hope it works.

Thanks for all your comments. :)

The theme fit is good because, for me, the temptation would be to slide another plate their way. I think it could use a bit of judicious cropping for more impact, but this is a very fun shot, PT - thanks for posting.
