pnital 36 Posted February 12, 2006 David, you are right about their head cover, it Is probably something that belongs to culture, but I think that it is as well because of the terrible heat there, even in the winter.I'm glad you like that folder. Ilse, thanks for your explanation. you can probably evaluate better than me living there, while I was for a short visit.but I can look at it only with my western eye...I'm sure they have some joy in their life, despite the hardship , but what touched me deeply was the children situation,a HUGE amount, dirty, many diseases( I come as well from the medical world),malnutrited, but especially looking misreble, and sad, without a smile, young children carry their younger brothers.I'm sure life community they have are helping, but still, a big part of humanity in a very bad human condition. kleintje 0 Posted February 13, 2006 Pnina, what I forgot to mention in my previous note is that I only know the situation in a small part of one country. It's dangerous to generalise these things. I don't know about the actual situation in Mali (or the places you have visited there) and it might as well be different. What made me react the way I did were the expressions on the faces of the women, which resemble so much the expressions I remember from Tanzania. Link to comment
meli d 0 Posted February 16, 2006 This is a perfect compliment in color, as well, to the photo of the men with the boats that I like so much, too. As you captured in other photos in this folder, the color here is bright and illustrative. So these are my two favorites :) Link to comment
