Please critique and rate this picture

It's very difficult to rate this picture, or to comment on it because the white background degrades the image significantly. It is like surrounding a picture with flourescent lights, and forces the pupil of the eye to close down. The result is that shadings, contrast and detail are greatly reduced. This is not a picture problem, but a site problem.
